Hello there! In today’s issue, Podimo opens a new recording studio in Europe, will Twitch’s Hype Chat help gain creators’ goodwill, a resource on how to win followers, upcoming events, and what’s making waves in the audio world.
Podcast and audiobook subscription service Podimo opened its first recording studio in Madrid, Spain.
The firm has also launched Talent Hub, a talent program specially for creators in the Spanish-language podcast market.
Talent Hub was created and launched in collaboration with PRISA Audio, a division of the Spanish-language PRISA media group.
The talent program welcomes Spanish-language podcasters who are looking for resources to boost their audiences. Applications are open until September 30. Interested podcasters can learn more and apply here.
The new podcast studio has two customizable recording sets plus the equipment needed for audio productions, live broadcasts, and video podcasts.
According to the Digital Audio Study 2023 of IAB Spain, podcasts are the third most listened-to digital audio format at 54%. Both these moves from Podimo signal their focus on growing the local community around podcasting.
The live-streaming platform Twitch launched Hype Chat: a feature that allows users to pay to pin their messages to streamers’ chats.
Viewers can now pay streamers between $1 and $500 to pin messages to their live chats.
Earlier this month, Twitch faced backlash from creators after it unveiled a monetization program that would only benefit 2.5% of streamers on the platform. The Partner Plus program gives streamers 70% of subscription revenue. However, as per Streams Charts, about 1000 creators on the platform qualified for this program.
The revenue split for the Hype Chat feature is also 70-30. Additionally, the feature will contain safeguards such as “prohibiting viewers from sending messages that contain banned words or phrases.”
The Hype Chat feature is currently available to more than 2.5% of streamers on the platform. It is available to all Twitch partners, but the company does have plans to expand it to other users.
