Archewell Audio, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s audio production house, is parting ways with Spotify.
Spotify will not be renewing Meghan Markle’s podcast Archetypes with Meghanfor a second season.
A joint statement from both parties states that the decision is mutual.
In 2020, Spotify inked a $20 million deal with Archewell Audio. This podcast has been the only content as the result of that deal.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Markle might not receive this amount after failing to meet “productivity clauses.”
Rebecca Sananès, the show’s producer, quit Archewell Audio days after the launch of the podcast.
The 12-episode podcast premiered in August 2022. Through Markle’s conversations with successful women in different fields, the podcast aimed at challenging “labels that hold women back.”
On June 20 at 2 pm ET, Signal Hill Insights is hosting the Demystifying Brand Liftwebinar. The webinar aims to provide a clearer understanding of brand lift studies and their place in podcast ad effectiveness.
From June 20-22, the She Podcasts Live! event is happening virtually. Registrations are still open. The agenda consists of workshops and talks on all things podcasting, from content to monetization.
Entries for the Independent Podcast Awards are open from now until June 30. The recently launched awards are for podcasts that are “truly free of corporate ties.” The event is set to happen on October 12.

One of Twitch’s most popular streamers, Félix Lengyel or xQc, signed a two-year deal with rival streaming platform, Kick. The New York Times reports that the contract is worth about $70 million and “matches traditional athletes’ contracts.”
Call Her Daddy’s host Alex Cooper and her fiancé Matt Kaplan launched Trending. Trending is a media company slated to produce scripted and unscripted content including podcasts, digital media, and live events.
ICYMI: Creators on YouTube with a minimum of 500 subscribers are now eligible to apply for the YouTube Partner Program, a monetization initiative from the platform.
