Hello there! Welcome to our Friday issue. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on an audio creator who plays pranks on scammers. We’re also sharing a social media news roundup relevant to audio creators, new audio releases, and what’s making waves in the audio world. Plus, I have a little request for you!
The past week saw quite a few updates from social media platforms that are relevant to audio creators. Here’s a quick roundup:
TikTok is launching text posts. The official release says that this new step is to expand “the boundaries of content creation for everyone on TikTok.” The new feature will allow users to share text posts, choose from different background colors, add sounds, and use hashtags.
The number of users watching YouTube Shorts has increased, year-over-year. Google shared that over 2 billion logged-in monthly users watched YouTube Shorts, as compared to 1.5 billion last year. Additionally, YouTube also earned $7.67 billion through ads, as per Google’s Q2 2023 results.
X, formerly Twitter, tells advertisers they need to spend at least $1,000 if they don’t want to lose their verification status. While on the topic of Twitter – Esther Crawford, a former Twitter Blue executive, opened up about the state of the company during the transitionary period it has been in.
Substack has Notes. While this is not exactly new news, I’m including it here because it’s relevant for audio creators looking for new platforms to promote their content on. Substack’s Notes allows users to share and interact on a Twitter-style feed. Additionally, Substack is also a free-to-use tool to create long-form content and easily include audio clips in it.
